Joining the Cobblemon server
Pokemon in Minecraft, without assembling a mod list by hand. Two installs, then the server sends you the rest.
The short version
Every Cobblemon server list carries the same warning: install the Cobblemon mod, match the server's version, and add whatever extras that particular server runs. Get the set wrong and you get a protocol error rather than a useful message.
This server sends you the mods instead. You install Fabric and one jar; AutoModpack works out the rest and downloads it on first connect. That is the whole difference.

Use the hostname rather than an IP — it is what lets AutoModpack verify the download automatically instead of asking you to approve a certificate by hand.

Drop in the AutoModpack jar
- Download automodpack-mc1.21.1-fabric-4.0.6.jar and put it in your mods folder. This is the only mod you install by hand — AutoModpack cannot bootstrap itself, so this one jar is the bootstrap.
- Both files are mirrored at http://mc.playgrn.com:30001/cobblemon/ if you would rather not hunt for them.

Connect and let it download
- Add the server: mc.playgrn.com — no port. You land in the GRNBLOCK hub; right-click the Cobblemon character there to be sent to the server.
- On first connect AutoModpack pulls the rest — roughly 139 MB, once. It works out which mods are client-side on its own, so you are not guessing at a list.
- Restart when it asks, reconnect, and you are in.

Do I have to install the Cobblemon mod myself?
No. This server runs AutoModpack, which sends the mod set to your client on first connect — around 139 MB, downloaded once. The only things you install by hand are the Fabric loader and a single AutoModpack jar, because AutoModpack cannot bootstrap itself. Most Cobblemon servers make you assemble the whole list yourself and match their versions exactly; this one does not.
Which Minecraft version do I need?
Fabric for 1.21.1. Not 1.21.11 — both versions exist, the names look almost identical, and picking the wrong one fails a version check before you ever reach the server. This trips up more people than anything else in the setup.
I get 'Failed to load registries' or 'Network Protocol Error'
That is a vanilla client hitting a modded server. Minecraft dies during the configuration step because the server is sending Cobblemon's registry entries and your client has never heard of them. It is not a server fault and reconnecting will not help — you need Fabric and the AutoModpack jar. Once those are in place the server sends everything else.
Why connect to mc.playgrn.com rather than a raw IP?
Because the hostname is what proves the download is genuine. AutoModpack checks a signed DNS record tied to the exact address you type, and only mc.playgrn.com carries it. Connect by IP or another hostname and you get a manual fingerprint prompt asking you to trust a certificate by hand — it still works, but you should not have to make that judgement call.
What happens if I connect without AutoModpack?
The server turns you away with a readable message telling you what is missing, rather than dropping you at a protocol error. That is deliberate.
Is it free? Is there a whitelist?
Free, and no whitelist. You need to own Minecraft Java Edition — we do not distribute the game. There is a store for cosmetics and perks that has no effect on catching or battling.
