How to play MW3 Survival online on Plutonium

Plutonium doesn't officially support Spec Ops or Survival. Here's why it works here anyway, and how to get into a wave-defence game in about five minutes.

Getting started

From install to in-game

Install Plutonium

  1. Download the Plutonium launcher from plutonium.pw and run it.
  2. Sign in with the Plutonium account you create on their site.
  3. Point the launcher at a legitimate MW3 (IW5) installation — Plutonium does not supply game files.
  4. Let it finish updating before launching. First run takes a few minutes.

Launch IW5 multiplayer

  1. In the launcher, pick IW5 and the Multiplayer option.
  2. Set your in-game name — this is the name your stats are tracked under, so pick one and stick with it.
  3. Once you're at the main menu, open the console with the ~ key.

Connect to a GRN server

  1. Open the server list on this site and hit “Copy connect” on the one you want.
  2. Paste it into the console and press enter. It looks like: connect 1.2.3.4:27016
  3. You'll load straight in. No password, no queue.

Play Spec Ops Survival

  1. Survival servers are listed separately — they're 1–2 player wave defence.
  2. Connect the same way. Your best wave per map is recorded automatically.
  3. Bring a partner for duo records; solo and duo boards are ranked separately.

Troubleshooting

Common problems

Connection failed / server not responding

The server may be restarting. Check the status page — if it shows offline there too, it's us, not you.

Stuck on “Awaiting connection”

Usually a firewall blocking UDP. Allow the Plutonium launcher and IW5 through Windows Firewall on both private and public networks.

My stats aren't showing up

Stats are keyed to your in-game name. If you changed it, the old name keeps the old stats — buy a name change in the shop to merge them.

High ping on every server

All GRN servers are in North America (Montréal, routing to the US East coast). If you're playing from Europe or further out, a transatlantic ping is expected rather than a fault.

Game crashes on map load

Usually missing DLC map files. Re-run the Plutonium launcher and let it verify, or avoid DLC rotation servers.

I got kicked for no reason

Anti-cheat false positives happen occasionally. Appeal in Discord and it gets sorted quickly.
