How to install GRN Shows on Kodi

Follow the steps in order on your Kodi device. The whole install takes about two minutes.

Meet the add-on

Movies, TV and your own sources

GRN Shows is our own Kodi add-on for movie and TV discovery, season and episode browsing, debrid access and Trakt lists. Its repository is published on GitHub, and Kodi runs the add-on on your device. New versions reach you on their own: Kodi checks the repository and installs updates without you doing anything.

The repository is published from the GRN-Shows repository on GitHub. Every change pushed there is built, checked and released as a new version within a few minutes, and Kodi picks it up on its next update check.

Step by step

How to install GRN Shows on Kodi

These paths follow Kodi's default skin, Estuary. A custom skin may put the same options elsewhere. Each step shows the screen you should be on and the item to click.

    At the top left of the Kodi home screen click the System Settings gear icon.

    Click File manager.

    On the left click Add source.

    Click where it says <None>.

    Type in the address below exactly, including https:// and the / at the end, then click OK.

    In the next box down name it GRN Shows and click OK.

    Go back to the main menu and click Add-ons.

    Click the Add-on Package Installer icon at the top left. It looks like an open box.

    Click Yes on the warning popup. If Unknown sources is not already enabled, Kodi offers to turn it on here.

    A box will pop open. Select GRN Shows.

    Wait for the notification at the top right to say GRN Shows Repository Add-on installed.

    Click Install, and confirm any dependency prompt.

    Wait for the notification to say GRN Shows Add-on installed. Open it from Add-ons, Video add-ons, GRN Shows.

After installation

Connect your accounts

Browsing works straight away. Everything below is optional and adds either your own library or your watch history. There are no API keys to create.

Connect a debrid service

Open GRN Shows, then Tools, Settings, Sources Accounts, and pick your service. Real-Debrid and Premiumize show a code you enter on their site, AllDebrid shows a PIN, and TorBox asks for the API key from your account page. Every service you connect adds its cloud to search results and plays the results CocoScrapers finds. Once connected, the service also appears under My Services with its cloud storage and history.

These are paid services you bring yourself. GRN Shows stores their tokens only in Kodi's local add-on settings.

Connect Trakt

Open Tools, Settings, Meta Accounts, then Trakt. Note the code shown in Kodi, visit trakt.tv/activate, sign in and enter it. Once connected, your lists appear under My Lists, Trakt Lists. Never post account tokens in support messages.

Choose your playback sources

Out of the box GRN Shows searches two places: the clouds of every debrid account you connected, and CocoScrapers, which installs with the add-on. Each CocoScrapers result is checked against your debrid service so you can see which ones play straight away instead of waiting for a download.

Everything else lives under Tools, Settings. Sources Accounts adds Easynews if you have an account, lets you pick a different scraper module with Choose External Scrapers Module, and points Set Folder Scrapers at folders of your own. Results holds the quality and size filters and the scraper timeout.

Availability and rights vary by item. Use sources you have permission to access. Trakt manages lists and history; it does not supply streams.

Troubleshooting

Kodi cannot connect to the source

Check that the address starts with https:// and ends with /GRN-Shows/, and that the capital letters match. Open the same address in a browser on the device's network: it should show a short list of files. If it fails there too, ask GRN support to check the repository.

Unknown sources is greyed out or the zip is refused

Enable it at Settings, System, Add-ons, Unknown sources, accept Kodi's confirmation, then start again at Install from zip file.

Repository installed, but the add-on is missing

Installing the ZIP only adds the repository. Finish with Install from repository, GRN Shows Repository, Video add-ons, GRN Shows, Install.

The catalog reports a TMDb error

Check the device's network connection and clock, then reopen the catalog. If it reports a rate limit, add your own free TMDb key under Tools, Settings, Meta Accounts.

No sources found

Connect a debrid service under Tools, Settings, Sources Accounts. CocoScrapers finds torrents, and a torrent only plays through a debrid account, so without one most titles find nothing. If you have one connected, loosen the quality and size filters under Tools, Settings, Results.

An authorization code expired

Close the dialog, start authorization again, and enter the new code before it expires. Leave Kodi's code window open until it confirms.

I installed GRN Shows before it moved to GitHub

Nothing to do. The old repository offered one last update that points your Kodi at GitHub, and every version after that comes from there. To check straight away, open GRN Shows, Tools, Update Utilities, Check For Updates.
